LOCAL legends

There are so many families that have been impacted by the waters of Green Lake. It really is a jewel.

Spending summers on a century-old family lake property, Mike Lehner has experienced Green Lake in nearly every way possible — swimming, waterskiing, boating, even scuba diving — but it’s as captain of the iconic Escapade Yacht that he sees firsthand the lake’s impact on others.

From bachelorette parties to memorial services, the 60-foot Escapade plays host to many of life’s major moments and Lehner gets to witness them all.

Lehner retired from his law practice seven years ago and began captaining the Escapde soon after. His narrated tours of 7,660-acre Green Lake are rich with historical facts and personal anecdotes about its geology, architecture, and past and present residents.

Captaining the Escapde is like coming full circle for Lehner and his family, who all grew up with jobs supported by the lake.

“You could say the lake is the latest employer in Green Lake County. Look at all the businesses dependent on this tremendous natural resource.”

The Escapde Yacht offers both public tours and private charters. Visit greenlaketours.com to learn more.
