Mike Norton
The cold, clear waters of Wisconsin’s deepest natural, inland lake have been enchanting the Norton family for over 100 years.
Mike Norton says, in some ways, the lake raised him and his two brothers.
“Our playground was crawling barefoot in the boats and underneath the decks of the marina,” he says.
Norton, a fourth-generation fishing guide on Big Green, was taught to fish by his father Bud, a Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame inductee. Today, Norton offers his own guided fishing tours (Mike Norton Fishing and Hunting Adventures) to share his expert knowledge with anglers from around the world.
Norton refers to Green Lake as “a fishermen’s Mecca.” With a maximum depth of 236 feet, it’s one of Wisconsin’s premier fishing lakes for cold water species like trout and white bass.
“The food web is flourishing which makes happy fish and that makes happy fishermen.”
